Extension and Refurbishment
Ashton Hayes Primary School, Cheshire
NWdesign have undertaken design studies for an extension and remodelling at Ashton Primary School, Cheshire. The existing building was retained and alterations were proposed to create a new entrance and office/staffroom and two new classrooms were added. A sedum roof with innovative northlights/photovoltaic panels (PV) oversails the new wing and a continuous glazed canopy stitches the two parts of the building together to create a cohesive piece of architecture. The village of Ashton Hayes is striving to become the first carbon neutral village and the redeveloped school needs to reflect this idea by introducing measures that could lead to BREEAM Excellent design. |
